81st annual Academy Awards
Oscar nominations were announced on Thursday for the 81st annual Academy Awards, with Brad Pitt starrer The Curious Case of Benjamin Button getting a leading 13 nominations.
The awards will be for 24 categories. The Oscars will be handed out in Hollywood on February 22.
Slumdog Millionaire
Director: Danny Boyle/Loveleen Tandan (co-director)
Cast: Dev Patel, Freida Pinto, Anil Kapoor
The story: The story of the life of an impoverished Indian teen Jamal Malik, who becomes a contestant on the Hindi version of 'Who Wants to be A Millionaire?', wins, and is then suspected of cheating.

Cast: Kate Winslet, David Kross, Ralph Fiennes, Lena Olin
Story: Post-WWII Germany: Nearly a decade after his affair with an older woman came to a mysterious end, law student Michael Burk re-encounters his former lover as she defends herself in a war-crime trial.
Milk
Director: Gus Van Sant
Cast: Sean Penn, James Franco, Emile Hirsch
The story: California's first openly gay elected official, Harvey Milk, a San Francisco supervisor who was assassinated along with Mayor George Moscone by San Francisco Supervisor Dan White.
Frost/Nixon
Director: Ron Howard
Cast: Frank Langella, Michael Sheen, Kevin Bacon
The story: A dramatic retelling of the post-Watergate television interviews between British talk-show host David Frost and former president Richard Nixon.
The curious case of Benjamin Button
Director: David Fincher
Cast: Brad Pitt, Cate Blanchett
The story: Tells the story of Benjamin Button, a man who starts aging backwards with bizarre consequences.
