Bond Movie Quantum of Solace Actresses Gemma Arterton Hot Scene in Crude Oil Photos

Slick performance: Arterton is covered with liquid during Quantum of Solace

Tribute: Shirley Eaton as victim Jill Masterson in the 1964 Bond Movie Goldfinger

It's not unusual for bond girlsto be bumped off in bizarre ways...but none has met a stickier end than this. In the new 007 movie Quantum Of Solace, Gemma Arterton’s character is drowned in crude oil and her lifeless body is left draped over a bed in a scene deliberately reminiscent of the 1964 Bond classic goldfinger.

Arterton, who plays an MI6 spy ordered to keep an eye on a renegade Bond, was covered from head to toe in sticky black liquid for the dramatic sequence.

She said: ‘I couldn’t move. I couldn’t see, I couldn’t breathe or hear because it went in my ears. It was unpleasant, but it’s something I’ll always remember and it will be an iconic part of the film.’

Producers will be hoping the image turns out to be as enduring as the memorable Sixties scene which inspired it.

In the original, arch-villain Goldfinger’s accomplice Jill Masterson, played by London-born actress Shirley Eaton, is killed after betraying her boss and sleeping with 007. She is asphyxiated after her entire body was covered in gold paint.

Black death: A camera man films arterton's demise

Sealed with a kiss: An oily Arterton blows a kiss to the camera after filming

Bond, played by Sean Connery, discovers her in his Miami hotel room lying in a position Quantum Of Solace director Marc Foster has recreated with Arterton.

This image of her is from a series of pictures from the 007 set exclusively released to The Mail on Sunday’s Live magazine, published today.

Twenty-two-year-old Arterton, from Gravesend in Kent, beat more than 1,500 hopefuls to the role of Agent Fields following her big-screen debut in last year’s remake of the riotous St Trinian’s boarding-school comedy.

Though dispatched to keep tabs on Daniel Craig’s 007, who is out of control following the death of his lover Vesper Lynd in Casino Royale, she inevitably ends up in bed with him.

Speaking ahead of the release of Quantum Of Solace at the end of this month, Arterton said: ‘Kissing Daniel was great – I can’t pretend it wasn’t.

'It was my first day on set and I’d only met him once before, and then suddenly we were expected to kiss.
